About Me

I hold a PGDE in Secondary Education (Mathematics ) and an MEng in Chemical and Process Engineering from Strathclyde University. I am also fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.

I have extensive experience teaching BGE, National 5, National 5 Applications and Higher Mathematics, as well as GCSE and IGCSE. My experience in secondary schools has given me comprehensive knowledge of curriculum content across various levels.

When working with pupils, my first priority is to identify their strengths and areas for development. If knowledge gaps exist, I systematically address them by setting clear targets and achievable goals. We return to fundamentals when necessary, ensuring solid foundations before progressing to more complex material.

In exam preparation, I use carefully developed resources, designed as mini versions of the exam, rather than relying solely on full past papers. These give pupils the opportunity to practise exam-style questions every week, build consistency, and strengthen their understanding of how marks are gained. This helps develop exam technique in a more structured way and turns performance from guesswork into a dependable, practiced skill.

Private 1-to-1 tuition is available for pupils studying at S1–S3 (Scotland) and KS3 (England) levels.

Lessons are tailored to your child's individual needs, whether they need help understanding challenging topics, building confidence, or strengthening their Maths skills.

We'll agree on a suitable day and time and discuss your child's learning needs and the best approach before tuition begins.

Pricing and payment

£50 per hour for private 1-to-1 tuition.
Monthly billing: The total amount will depend on the number of lessons booked for that month.
Payment in advance: All lessons are paid for before tuition begins.

Please note: Additional support between scheduled lessons is not included in private tuition.

Request a Time Slot

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy for 1-to-1 support:

Empower Maths requires 48 hours’ notice to cancel a lesson. If you cancel within the notice period, you can choose either a refund or to carry the payment forward to the next lesson.
Less than 48 hours’ notice is chargeable.
